Heather Levac

I am primarily self taught and the product of my genetics as the daughter of an artist. As a military wife of almost 30 years and a mom I now have time to pursue my passion for creating art. While art in many forms has always been a part of my life and I have been creating art for as long as I can remember, it’s only recently that I have begun a more earnest devotion to developing myself as an artist and begun sharing my art with others. My primary medium was sketching in pencil, it’s where I started, and is still a favourite. Over the years I have grown and learned so much. As my technique and art improved and as a challenge I began to explore new mediums, from photography to watercolours to acrylics. In 2021 I decided to listen to my intuition and find a style all my own, determined to learn and listen and not give up. To find my voice in paint. Along this lifelong journey what I have discovered is that although each new medium brought with it new challenges in technique, the true gift of an artist is the ability to see the art in the subject matter. To find the beauty in the everyday. While inspired by the greats of the impressionist movement and current living artists I’ve endeavoured to create my style mixing traditional with a bit of whimsy, and always listening to that intuition.
