Show Details

The Big Art Show is Kingston Artist Events newest event, an exclusive art showcase featuring stunning large-scale pieces by a talented collective of local artists. Guests of this unique art show will have the opportunity to view 40 large works, all together in the Gallery of the beautiful Tett Centre. The originals are available for purchase, along with high quality prints of the artwork will also be available to by order, with optional framing by Kingston Frameworks.

Important Dates

March 16th: Pay your non-refundable $55.00 participation fee by clicking here.

April 18th: Last day to drop off artwork at Kingston Frameworks for scanning.

April 20th: Send artwork details for the website. See details below on how to complete this step.

Artwork Specifications

Artists will provide one (1) large format piece for the event.

Size Requirements:

Artwork must be 36"x36" or 36"x48".

Pricing

Pricing is up the artist's discretion and personal pricing structure.

General FAQ

How many pieces can I submit to the show?

For this show, each artist will submit one piece.

What is the commission collected by Kingston Artist Events?

The commission on the sale of the original painting is 40%.

The commission structure for the prints uses the following formula:
35% of [Print Price (set by artist) minus Print Cost (to frameworks)]

Am I required to provide packing supplies for my artwork?

No, this is provided by the show!

Am I required to attend the event?

No! But if you are nearby and able to make it to the show, we would love to see you! Make sure to wave down an event staff member or volunteer if you do come to the show, because we will have name tags available so that the guests of the show recognize you as an artist!

How much does it cost to attend the show?

It is free all weekend long!

How are payments handled during the show?

All payments are completed by Kingston Artist Events staff using our POS system.

How do I get paid for my artwork that is sold during the show?

After the show, you will receive a sales summary which will show you your total sales, which pieces sold, and how much is owed to you. Payments will be sent by e-transfer to the email address you provide on your artwork submission form. Our goal is to complete all payments within 2 weeks following the show.

1. Please tag us @kingstonartistevents when you have work in progress / sneak peeks etc. When you tag us in your posts, we are sure to see it and can then reshare in our stories!

2. If you want us to share specific paintings that are for the show, please direct message them on Instagram & Vanessa will share as your turn comes up. We are following a schedule to ensure everyone is shared equally (excluding resharing tagged content, which we do as it comes up when relevant).

3. VIDEOS: If you'd like to send Vanessa short [~10seconds] clips of you artwork/ you working on your artwork via instagram, she will be featuring these clips in reels to help promote the event.

4.REELS - collaborate!:If you are posting a reel and would like to invite us to collaborate so that it shows up on both of our pages, please do! We will accept at least one reel collaboration per artist.

Vanessa has added every artist she could find as co-hosts to the Facebook event. If you did not get an invite, and want to be listed as a co-host on the event, please message Vanessa directly on Instagram (Kingston Square Foot Show) or Facebook and she will add you.

Marketing

Postcards & Flyers

Postcards and posters for the event are available now! We will be placing these in various businesses around town over the next few weeks.

Postcards and/ or posters can be picked up at Montreal Street Collective if you are interested in having some to distribute at work/ other events/ to your friends etc. Please send us an email and we will make sure to have some set aside for you!

Contests

We will be running various contests through social media to help promote the event; with prizes including four $50 gift cards to the event. We encourage you to share these posts as they come up.

Submitting Artwork For Online

All artwork will be available for purchase online on Saturday, Oct 19th & Sunday, Oct 20th (the show is in person only on the opening Friday).

To submit your artwork to be added to the website, please use the form below that applies to your submission.

Artwork Drop-Offs

Artwork must be delivered to Kingston Frameworks by April 18th.

When dropping off, please leave your name and tell staff that you are dropping off for scanning for The BIG Art Show.

Artwork Pick-Up

After the show, artwork can be picked up at the Tett Centre.

Times: 4pm-5pm
Public access to the Tett Centre ends at 5pm, so if you are planning to pick up Sunday after the show, please make sure to arrive before 5pm to avoid missing the pick up window.

Monday, May 5th

Times: 10am-3pm

If you are unavailable during those times, please reach out directly and we will find a time that works for you!

Live Painting Sign-Ups

We will be showcasing live painting on both Saturday and Sunday at the Tett Centre to make the experience more interactive for guests of the show! It's also a great opportunity for artists to meet potential buyers!

How It Works

  • Each day will be broken into 2-hour timeslots.
  • Each 2-hour timeslot can accommodate two artists.
  • Space available for 14 artists total.
