Collection: Michelle Reid
Michelle Reid is an award-winning Canadian artist whose vibrant work is deeply rooted in the quiet space she cultivated during a chaotic childhood. Though her roots began in Quebec City, Kingston, Ontario, is the only true home she has ever known, establishing a deep connection to the regional landscapes she now paints.
As the second youngest of eight siblings, and raised in a very busy, loud house that often served as a "rotating door of others in need," Reid's early life was a continuous study in high-volume community. To find balance, she mastered the art of retreating inward, learning to disappear into a world of her own creation and creating space for herself by saying nothing at all.
This profound history of seeking tranquility is the driving force behind her work today. Translating that precious inner sanctuary onto canvas, Reid’s distinct abstract-impressionism is celebrated for its ability to bottle light, evoke the spirit of a place, and inspire hope.
Her commitment to mastery has earned her recognition in the highest circles, including an invitation to the international Silk Road: Artists' Rendezvous cultural exchange in China and the national award commission for the monumental altar art, "Sacred Space." Reid’s paintings don't just decorate a space; they offer a much-needed moment of transcendent peace.
